Accusations unfounded: BJP
ITANAGAR, June 26: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Arunachal Pradesh has termed the allegations of senior Congress leader V Narainsamy as unfounded, uncalled for and without iota of truth.
Congress recently alleged that the Modi government was attempting to destabilise the party's governments in the northeast. Party General Secretary V Narainsamy had said that MLAs are being threatened by terrorist outfits to switch over to the BJP thereby destabilising the governments.... Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju is involved, he had alleged.
The state BJP said it is a desperate attempt to tarnish the bright image of the BJP Govt. at the Centre.
"The BJP doesn't believe in mudslinging and it believes in democratic principles and values in politics. The Congress party leaders instead of throwing unfounded and wild allegations on the BJP leaders, should guide it party leaders to do away with rampant corruption and take immediate corrective measures on financial mismanagements by its government, the BJP said in a release.

Upper Subansiri Deputy Commissioner Komkar Dulom emphasized on the importance of timely and constant monitoring of schemes being implemented to ensure quality. He advised all to work with a positive attitude and be result oriented. It is the official as well as moral duty of all the elected representatives and government officers to see that the schemes truly benefit the masses through a developed network of roads and infrastructure in all areas, he said.
Dulom also advised all to do away with the system of compartmentalization of departments and instead bring about a transparent system where the executing departments keep the monitoring committee members, PRI members and concerned departments apprised of the works being executed by them.
District Planning Officer, Same Timba briefly highlighted the monitoring mechanism and informed all on the different schemes being implemented in the district.
ZPM Rocky Motu, speaking on behalf of the PRI members, stressed on the need to take into account the topography, soil, climatic conditions, road connectivity, feasibility etc of a scheme during the planning process itself, for it to be a success later on and put forward the idea of cross monitoring, to check and balance the system of monitoring for the process to be more effective.

Solve school problems: ANYA
ITANAGAR, June 26: Expressing concern over the defunct schools especially in the remote Nyishi belt of the state and reported complaints against erring teachers and other staff, All Nyishi Youth Association (ANYA) today appealed to the education minister and DDSEs of the concerned district to look into the school problems and keep strict vigil on the performance of headmasters and other teachers to do the needful.
Referring to the recent media report regarding defunct schools in the East Kameng district, ANYA president Biri Kakum said education, being the basis of all developments, needs to be seriously taken care of.
Meanwhile, ANYA again appealed the authorities to restore the damaged roads in and around Capital Complex at the earliest before heavy downpour. ANYA also appealed the district authorities particularly of the Nyishi belts to look into the same.

ITANAGAR, Jun 26: Informing that water supply to RWD Colony Karsingsa has been disrupted since last two weeks, the All Banderdewa Circle Students' Union has sought the intervention of PHE &WS department, Yupia.
Alleging apathy of the site engineers for the problem, the union in its letter to the EE, PHE & WS added that the colony dwellers and public of the area are facing tremendous problems due to disruption of water supply.

Improve road condition, demand Unions
ITANAGAR, June 26: The Galo Students' Union (GSU) and the West Siang District Students' Union (WSDSU) in a joint representation to the West Siang Deputy Commissioner appealed him to immediately direct the PWD authorities and the contractor concerned to properly carry out restoration cum maintenance works on the entire stretch of road from Bam Tinali to Aalo. The Unions also urged the DC to direct the BRTF authorities to restore all the damaged portion of the road from Likabali to Bam Tinali. They gave a months' time for proper road maintenance.
Highlighting the problems faced by the general public who are regularly using Likabali to Aalo road which is lying in a dilapidated condition, the Unions said that the road is not only used by the people of West Siang but also by those hailing from Upper Subansiri, Upper Siang and the newly created Siang district. The road is also being used by defense personnel for carrying men, machines and supplies upto the international border via Menchuka, added the Unions.
Countless memorandums and appeals have been submitted repeatedly by numerous organisations but nothing has been done to mitigate the problems, the representation said.
AAPPTF asks to keep vigil on the works of contractors
ITANAGAR, Jun 26: The All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation (AAPPTF) has requested the PWD minister to keep strict vigil on the works of contractors who are assigned to construct the roads in and around Capital Complex stating that vehicles are being damaged due to the pathetic road condition.
It also demanded that the ongoing road constructions be repaired at the earliest. The association wrote a letter to the PWD minister in this regard.

International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking observed
ITANAGAR, Jun 26: The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed across the state with active participation by school students. .
The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was first observed on June 26, 1988. The day was introduced on December 7, 1987 by the UN General Assembly to honour Lin Zexu's contribution in dismantling the opium trade in Guangdong. This day, the members of the General Assembly decided to establish an international society free of drug abuse since the use of drugs continues to constitute a serious hazard to public health.
A seminar themed 'Let's develop our lives, our communities, our identities, without drugs' was conducted by the APSACS, Directorate of Health Services, Naharlagun at Don Bosco school, Jully to mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, here today.
Over 300 students took part in the programme.
Addressing the students on the occasion, Deputy Director (IEC) APSACS Tashor Pali, said that the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking has been held annually since 1988 on June 26 to commemorate Lin Zexu's dismantling of the opium trade in Humen, Guangdong, just before the First Opium War in China.

While highlighting some of the symptoms of drug abuse like bloodshot eyes, changes in appetite or sleep patterns, sudden weight loss or weight gain, deterioration of physical appearance and personal grooming habits, unexplained change in personality or attitude, sudden mood swings, irritability or angry outbursts, lack of motivation etc, Dr. Pali said that drug abuse can lead to social disturbances like theft, burglary, familial disharmony and law and order problem.
Speaking as resource person, deputy director (Blood Safety) Dr. Nabam Budh informed the students about the various routes of HIV/AIDS transmission and its prevention and further appealed all not to discriminate people living with HIV.
The school's principal Father Philip stressed the importance of creating awareness on HIV and drug abuse asked students to enrich themselves with knowledge so that they can remain safe. While appreciating APSACS under Health Department for initiative, he said that adolescents need to develop their life skill to face the bigger challenges in the later part of their lives.

School children and youth were seen holding posters and banners displaying Anti Drug slogans across the length and breadth of the town. Enthusiastic participation from Arunachal Police was also seen in this rally.
A public meeting was held on culmination of the rally at Khonsa market.
Addressing the gathering, Tirap SP Jasmeet Singh explained in details the ill effects of drug abuse among the teenagers. ITANAGAR, Jun 26: While referring to the news under the caption "Police brutality alleged" published in this daily, the Police Headquarter today said all allegations of police brutality and political influence are totally fabricated, and have been denied by the police.

Inspector General of Police (HQ), Tusar Taba in a release said that Lezen Gyadi is an accused in case FIR No. 14/15 U/S 452/384 /307/506/34 IPC r/w Sec 25/27 Arms Act which was registered at PS Rupa. After cancellation of his anticipatory bail by Guwahati High Court, Naharlagun Bench, he was absconding and evading arrest.
He further clarified that on June 25, acting on a secret information, a police team
led by SDPO and OC Rupa had raided a hideout and managed to arrest Lezen Gyadi from
an isolated jungle area at Vivek Vihar, Itanagar. When the police team had tried
to arrest him, he made his best efforts to flee from the scene and fell down. However,
he was arrested and taken to Itanagar PS as required by legal procedure. Thereafter,

DDMA intensifies disaster management
AALO, June 26: The West Siang District Disaster Management and its Advisory Board in its meeting held here today intensified the disaster management and plan of the district.
Presiding over the meeting, Deputy Commissioner, Pige Ligu stressed on the need to draw perspective plans as per local threat perception by the respective departments to minimize adverse impact of any kind of disaster.

Tanglam Rusa moves from darkness to light
ITANAGAR, Jun 26: It was all smiles for the villagers of Tanglam Rusa as they got electricity for the first time with local MLA Gabriel D. Wangsu switching on the main electricity line today in presence of all the HoDs headed by ADC Kanubari SS Choudhury and all the three ZPMs, other public leaders and villagers of the area.
"The electricity connection is a message of my commitment to take along the people from darkness to light", Wangsu said after distributing electric meter box free of cost to 25 households at the inauguration function. Ministry of tourism has further launched a special programme for enhancing connectivity in Himalayan states and north east region. Union government has started work on it under Swadesh Darshan scheme and allocated Rs 120 crore. This move will be beneficial for our state. Arunachal Pradesh is considered to be the hottest tourist destination of the country. But due to varying factors tourism industry has not moved ahead. However with union government giving special focus on development of tourism industry in NE region, situation will hopefully improve in the future.

Information technology employees deserves better treatment
Dear Editor,
Through your esteemed daily, first of all I would like to draw the kind attention
of all concerns towards the condition of the IT (Information Technology) department
of the state government of Arunachal Pradesh and the status of its employees. After
thirteen long years of services delivered with full dedication and sincerity by its
employees in the department, the employees have not been blessed with a promotion
till date. It is due to non-
IT without doubt is one of the most important departments as every developmental activity disseminates through it needs attention from all concern.
Now, question arises that why these employees are deprived of their right to live a promoted life. Employee suffers even though it none of their fault and it has demoralized the dedicated employees.
When the whole world considers IT as a way of life, here in contrary the employees of the department feel unfortunate to be an employed n IT department. Who is to be blamed for this? Certainly, not the employee themselves.
Therefore, the Chief Minister who is the Minister In/Charge, is requested to take positive step for the development of IT in the state and the Chief Secretary is also requested to give valuable suggestion from his office so that employees are treated with equal parity with the other government departmental employees of the state.

Through the columns of your esteemed daily, I would like to bring into the light some of the fact about schools in Anjaw District.
Education is the backbone of a society, school is a temple of knowledge, teaching is the noblest of all professions and the teacher comes immediately after the parents in the life of an individual. On the one hand, all of us seem to be in a hurry to rush towards the twenty first century with modern communication and teaching aids but on the other, primary education in most of our district is neglected.

A large numbers of schools in Anjaw district do not have teacher quarters, boundary walls, toilet etc. The playground and facilities of drinking water is a dream for the students of these schools. Almost all the government schools present a sorry spectacle with no furniture or teacher. I am very sad to witness all those conditions of knowledge centre. Suggestions: As per the availability of teaching faculty, teacher quarter to be constructed. Boundary wall of schools need to be taken in to due consideration in order to prevent encroachment. MDM has to be streamlined as per Govt. of India’s prescribed rules and guidelines.
Proper toilets at all the institutions as it is basic need of the schools and needs due consideration too. Time to time visit by the DDSE is urgently required in order to improve education as well as health of the pupils and accordingly report to be sent to the Director Secondary/ Elementary Education.

My Pasighat, My beautiful Pasighat. As long the sun is shining, you are visible and beautiful. But as the darkness falls, you are but a person in a black veil. Reason? No electricity to bring your beauty to the fore. Since many months, your sons and daughters are reeling under darkness, absolute darkness. The promise of 24 hrs electricity has gone with the wind. Even if electricity is there for a moment or so, it is without the thing we call voltage. Many mobiles and laptops are damaged, but to get to a mobile repairing shop is hazardous. Jumping over barbed wires, which are there for months altogether in the name of road renovations. While common men weep, contractors laugh, all the way to the bank! I won’t bore the readers with cliché hot weather and students without electricity. So mainstream.
I wonder if the leaders and members of PPWC are getting any special treatment. Are they scared of highly placed people or are they just lazy?
While the world is moving forward, we, the sons of Pasighat are going back to the age of Apes and Chimpanzees. God help us all.
